TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1863.
Edward B. Wright member elect from Cabell county, appeared, was duly qualified and took his seat.
Mr. West presented a petition from the citizens of Wetzel county in reference to E. Moore, late Sheriff of Wetzel county, which was referred.
Mr. Kramer presented the credentials of P. M. Hale, member elect from Lewis county, who appeared, was duly qualified and took his seat.
On motion of Mr. Hawxhurst,
Resolved, That the Committee on Courts of Justice inquire into the expediency of changing the place of holding courts in Fairfax county.
On motion of Mr. Hooton,
Resolved, That the Committee on Roads and Internal Navigation be requested to inquire into the expediency of reporting a bill to compensate Jacob Stemple, of Preston county, for labor done by him as a contractor on the Gratey Creek and West Union Turnpike Road.
Mr. Boreman presented a petition from the citizens of Tyler county, praying for the extension of the Stay Law, which was referred.
Mr. Farnsworth presented a petition from the citizens of Upshur county against the extension of the Stay Law, which was referred.
Engrossed House Bill No. 38, "A Bill making an appropriation for rebuilding the bridge across Point Pleasant Creek, on the Sistersville and Salem Turnpike, in the County of Tyler," was taken up, and thereupon on motion it was laid on the table.
Engrossed House Bill, No 36, "A Bill amending an act, entitled "An Act to amend the eight section of an act imposing taxes for the support of the Government, passed April 3d, 1861," was taken up, and thereupon on motion the further consideration of the bill was passed by for the present.
Engrossed House Bill, No. 31, "A bill to incorporate the Clarksburg Coal and Iron Company," and thereupon, on motion the further consideration of the bill was passed by for the present.
The consideration of the following engrossed bills were also passed by for the present.
House Bill, No. 29, "A Bill entitled an act appropriating money for repairing the Morgan and Frederick Turnpike."
House Bill, No. 35, "A Bill authorizing the Courts of the Common wealth to suspend the act to amend and re-enact the act, entitled an act prescribing oaths in certain cases and providing for the registration of the same passed May 14, 1862.
Engrossed House Bill, No. 35, "A Bill allowing additional compensation to Sheriffs and Collectors of the Public Revenue of the State," was taken up, and thereupon Mr. Kramer moved to reconsider the vote ordering the bill to engrossment, and the question being put, it was determined in the negative, and thereupon on motion of Mr. Wilson the further consideration of the bill was passed by for the present.
On motion of Mr. Patrick the House adjourned.
