The Meeting To-Night.

To-night we expect to see a big turn out at the Court House. George McPorter, Speaker of the House of Delegates, and one of the ablest and most promising men in the new State, will be one of the speakers. Prof. Ross, the accomplished writer of the magnificent article which appeared in our columns a few days ago, and the new State candidate will be another; Jas. S. Wheat, the Attorney General of the State, will be another.
Let the new State men of all the wards rally in their full strength.

The New State Meeting At The Court House. - The new State meeting at the Court House last night was a very good one. There was one thing that must have struck every observant man present, and that was the morale of the assembly. It was made up of our best citizens. The Court House was well filled. The meeting was organized by making Dr. Todd President and George W. Sights Secretary, and was addressed by Professor Ross, the new State candidate for the Convention, by Attorney General Wheat, and Colonel (Senator) Stewart. These gentlemen all acquitted themselves handsomely, and Colonel Stewart particularly brought down the house in the concluding speech. The speech of General Wheat was one of remarkable ability and clearness, and one that must convince the most obdurate foe to the new State. We expect to give it to our readers entire. We intended to give some notes of the other speeches this morning but space does not permit. The meeting was a perfect success and will do much good.
