Editors Intelligencer:

The meeting was organized by calling H. Williamson to the chair and W. G. Miller as Secretary. The chairman explained the object of the meeting to be to organize a new State party.

A committee of three was appointed to draft resolutions, consisting of Hon. J. Hubbs, Col. B. T. Parker and Lieut. Col. J. T. Biddle.

In the absence of the committee, Prof. Smith was called for and responded to the call in a glowing and thrilling speech in favor of the new State and the Union. - Col. Parker was then called for, and responded in a patriotic speech.

The committee reported the following resolutions:

Resolved, 1st. That we will give our undivided support to the new State, and we will by all means in our power urge its adoption, laying aside all former parties.

2d. That we deem it advisable to procure the services of P. G. Van Winkle and others to address the citizens of Pleasants at the Court House on the 14th of March, and for this purpose desire the Chairman to appoint a Committee of Invitation consisting of three.

3d. That we have full confidence in the Government of the United States, and believe it will be able to crush out this rebellion, and therefore we will continue to give it our hearty support.

4th. That the proceedings of this meeting and those resolutions be published in the Wheeling Intelligencer.

The Chair appointed the following persons as Committee of Invitation:

Col. Parker, D. Flint, Prof. Smith.

On motion of R. Peterson the meeting adjourned.
