SWORD PRESENTATION. - The members of Crothers' Battery yesterday surprised their officers with the announcement that a sword presentation was to take place, stating that everything was in readiness except the speakers for the occasion.
About 4 o'clock, Mr. Samuel Crane presented the swords - one to Capt. Jas. H. Holmes and another to Lieut. George K. Smith, -- in a few neat and appropriate remarks. The Hon. Sherrard Clemens responded, on behalf of the recipients, in an able and becoming manner.
We are pleased to note this testimonial of the high esteem in which these officers are held by their company, and we are confluent that the men will never have cause to regret it.
