A body of guerrillas numbering it is supposed, about 30 men, made a decent on the village of Troy, Gilmer county, on Friday morning last, about day-light, robbing two stores of their effects, amounting in all to about $1,000. and pillaging the houses of private citizens; after which they made their escape taking prisoner following persons, who they took away with them: Adam and Peter Heckard, Adam Gleck, and three of Capt. Peirpoint's men:James White, Alex Goff, and James Robinson.
The Gilmer and Bone Creek Guards have since arrested and lodged in the jail in this plae [sic] fifteen of the most prominent secessionists of Gilmer as hostages for the return of those carried off by the rebels.
