Meeting in Taylor County.
At a meeting of the citizens of Taylor county, held on the 18th day of July, 1864, John J. Allen was called to the chair and J. M. Scrogin appointed secretary.
The object of the meeting was briefly explained by Harmon Sinsel, Esq., to be to appoint delegates to the State Convention, to assemble at Grafton on the 3d day of August to nominate candidates for State officers, and appoint Presidential electors, & c., whereupon the following delegates were appointed, being three from each township of the county:
Court House - Harmon Sinsel, Geo. H. A. Kunet and Alfred Rector.
Booth Creek - Richard Harr, Nelson Gray and Thomas Cather.
Flemington - John J. Allen, William H. Shields and Jesse H. Cather.
Clayville - James Davis, Waldo P. Bartlett and Josiah Simmons.
Webster - Elijah Sinsel, John T. Moss and Wesley Frazier.
Grafton - Henry Compton, George R. Latham and M. A. Himan.
Knottsville - M. W. Kinkaid, Jacob Means and Henry Miller.
Haymond's - Wm. W. Haymond, John Haymond and Eugenia Ford.
Fetterman - John K. Knotts, J. M. Scrogin and John Musgrave.
On motion, Col. James Evans, Henry Compton, John k. Mallonee were appointed a committee to procure a suitable building for the assemblage of the Convention.
On motion, the proceedings of this meeting were ordered to be published in the Wheeling Intelligencer.
On motion the meeting adjourned.
