Meeting in Brooke County.

Wellsburg, West Va., July 30, 1864

Editors Intelligencer:

At a meeting of the citizens of Wellsburg, July 30th, for the purpose of appointing delegates to the Grafton convention, which meets on Wednesday, August 3d, to nominate candidates for the different State officers at the ensuing fall election, Wm. H. Harvey was called to the Chair and J. J. Johnson elected to act as Secretary.

It was then on motion resolved to send five delegates from each township. Where upon Geo. Hooker, G. G. Orr, W. H. Harvey, Leander Browning and Q. L. Laughead were appointed from Cross creek township; C. Kimberland, J. J. Johnson, C. F. Scott, G. W. Caldwell and H. C. Shephard, from Wellsburg township and R. M. Well, I. C. Gist, Wm. Snediker, J. A. Campbell and Joseph Lockhart, from Buffalo township.

After considerable discussion on the subject, it was resolved to send the above delegates to Grafton without instructions in regard to the choice of candidates before the Convention.

The meeting then adjourned.
