Meeting in Marshall County.
October 4, 1864
At a meeting of the Union voters of Union Township, held at Sherrard, Oct. 1st, on motion, Thos. Dowler, was chosen President, and J. M. Brown, Secretary.
Joseph Turner, Esq., explained the object of the meeting, which was for the purpose of nominating two Delegates to represent Marshall county in the Legislature. Through a multiplicity of candidates united action had become necessary.
Rev. T. H. Trainer and Dr. Marshman, were unanimously recommended to the voters of Marshall county, as candidates for the Legislature.
The following named gentlemen were unanimously recommended for re-election for the various County offices: Hanson Criswell, Esq., for Attorney; Walter Evans, for Recorder; M. Dowler, for Surveyor of Lands; George Pelly, for Assessor.
Resolved, That we will use all honorable means to elect the above named candidates.
On motion of Mr. Snedicker, ordered that the proceedings of the meeting be published in the Intelligencer.
