Editors Intelligencer:
At the last meeting of the Short Creek Township National Union Association, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted:
Whereas, News has just reached us that the city of Wheeling is at this time menaced by rebels, aided and encouraged by rebel sympathizers. Therefore,
Resolved, 1st. By the members of the Short Creek Union Association, that we will hold ourselves in readiness to march a the [sic] shortest possible notice to the assistance of the citizens of Western Virginia, in repelling the rebels that are now, or may hereafter invade that State.
2d. That in order to carry out the foregoing resolution, we will organize ourselves into a military company to be known as Minute men.
3d. That in order that we may be prepared and made efficient, we enter upon drill as soon as practicable.
