John Davis Davis, John
John J. Davis of Harrison County was a delegate to the First and Second Wheeling Conventions, and served as a delegate in the House of Delegates for the Reorganized Government of Virginia. After the war, Davis was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates and was a congressman from 1871 to1875.
Spencer Dayton Dayton, Spencer
Spencer Dayton of Barbour County served as a delegate to the First and Second Wheeling Conventions. He was later elected to the West Virginia State Senate and served as a prosecuting attorney.
Henry Dering Dering, Henry
Henry Dering of Monongalia County was elected as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, where he chaired a committee that worked out a compromise between northern and southern West Virginia on internal improvements.
John Dille Dille, John
John Adams Dille of Preston County was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention., where he served on the Judiciary Committee and the Committe on County Organization. On the last day of the recalled session he was elected vice-president of the convention. Dille later served as a circuit judge.
Isaac Duval Duval, Isaac
Isaac Hardin Duval of Wellsburg was colonel of the 9th West Virginia Infantry and later commanded the Second Division of the Army of West Virginia. He was promoted to major general and was twice severely wounded. After the war, Duval was elected to both the State Senate and the House of Delegates, was Adjutant General, and served one term in Congress.
William Edwards Edwards, William
William Henry Edwards, a native of the Kanawha County community of Coalburg, was a renowned entomologist, naturalist and explorer who led an important expedition into the Amazon in 1846. He was the author of Butterflies of North America and A Voyage Up the River Amazon. In April 1861, Edwards observed the closing days of the Richmond Convention, which resulted in Virginia's secession from the Union.

James Evans of Monongalia County was a delegate to the First and Second Wheeling Conventions. He later organized and commanded the 7th West Virginia Infantry.
D.D.T. Farnsworth Farnsworth, DDT
Daniel Duane Tompkins Farnsworth represented Upshur County in the Second Wheeling Convention and was elected to the House of Delegates for the Reorganized Government of Virginia. He later served in the West Virginia State Senate and became president of that body. When Governor Arthur Boreman resigned to join the United States Senate, Farnsworth became governor for five days.

Peter Hale served as a delegate from Lewis County to the First and Second Wheeling Conventions.
Granville Hall Hall, Granville
A native of Harrison County, Granville Hall served as a reporter for the Wheeling Daily Intelligencer. He attended and reported on the Wheeling Conventions, and recorded the proceedings and debates of the Constitutional Convention. After the formation of West Virginia, Hall was elected clerk of the House of Delegates, and in 1864, he was elected Secretary of State
Sylvanus Hall Hall, Sylvanus
Sylvanus Hall of Marion County served as assistant clerk of the Constitutional Convention. From 1863 to 1874, he was clerk of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
Thomas Harris Harris, Thomas
General Thomas Maley Harris organized and headed the 10th West Virginia Infantry. He served on the Military Commission that tried and convicted the Lincoln assassin conspirators. After the war, he was a member of the House of Delegates and was commissioned Adjutant General in 1869.

Harrison was a delegate from Harrison County to the Constitutional Convention. He later served as a circuit judge.
Jacob Hornbrook Hornbrook, Jacob
Jacob Hornbrook of Wheeling was a delegate to the First Wheeling Convention. He was also active in recruiting troops for the Union army and was appointed an aide with rank of colonel of cavalry. His exertions on behalf of West Virginia's Union soldiers earned him the nickname, the "Soldiers' Friend."

Wheeling native Thomas Hornbrook served as an aide to Governor Francis Pierpont, and was appointed Surveyor of Wheeling.

Chester Hubbard Hubbard, Chester
Chester D. Hubbard of Wheeling was a delegate to the Richmond Convention, where he voted against secession. He served as a delegate to the First and Second Wheeling Conventions. In 1863, Hubbard was elected to the West Virginia State Senate, and from 1865 to 1869 he served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
