Remember...Margaret Fae Perry

Margaret Fae Perry was born on January 31, 1923, in Morgantown, West Virginia, one of ten children born to Pasquale and Sarah Marra Perry.
Margaret was a graduate of University High School and St Mary's School of Nursing in Clarksburg. She was an employee of the General Hospital as a supervisor of the second floor hall and at one time in charge of the maternity floor.
On February 21, 1951, Margaret, then First Lieutenant in the Air Force, reported to Hickam Air Force base in Honolulu and was assigned to the 2354 Medical Air Evacuation Squadron as a flight nurse with the Pacific Division. Her duty was to fly across the Pacific from Japan to the United States caring for wounded soldiers and Marines aboard hospital planes.
On December 22, 1952, First Lieutenant Margaret Perry was aboard a hospital plane in Korea which had just picked up a patient and was approaching the take-off area. The plane was rammed by a small aircraft, killing Lieutenant Perry and all others aboard both aircraft.
The body of Lieutenant Margaret Fae Perry was returned to the United States and interred in Lawnwood Cemetery in Morgantown.
As a memorial, the family of Lieutenant Margaret Fae Perry established a nursing scholarship in her honor at West Virginia University.
