Head Quarters 2nd Va. Vol. Cav.

Adjutant Genl West Va
Sir
I have learned though the mustering Officer of the Div, that Lieut Young's Company refered to in Special Order No. 28 from Head Quarters Dept West Va, dated at Wheeling, Feb 4th 1862, is now attached to either the 11th or 13th Va. Vol. Inf. he is not positive which, but he says there was an order from the War Dept attaching said Company to one of the Regts. I would like to know as soon as possible whether or not the Company will be ordered to report to this Regt. I have not ascertained yet what disposition will be made of Capt. Gilmores Company though I understand that the 1st Va Cav claim them and that the men are re-enlisting with that understanding. I think I will know in a few days how it will be with that Company. If we could get two more Companies full, our Regt would soon be full as we have an aggregate now of Eight Hundred and Ninety one (891) which I think is the largest Regt in the Valley. I am anxious to have the Regt filled up to the maximum number, and I hope Genl you will give your aid and influence in obtaining for the Regt two more Companies that the Regt may be full, drilled, and equipped for the spring Campaign. Hoping to hear from you soon Genl I have the honor to be,

Very Respectfully Yours &c
