To the Adjutant General of West Virginia
F. P. Pierpoint

General Pierpoint Sir,

I would inform you my prospects are favorable, and I can have in camp at anytime two hundred men.

But for the want of subsistence (and) arms I dare not call them in. I have recommended for Quartermaster, Mr. John Adames (?). He is on his way to the governor, and I am in hopes (he) will be able to get his commission.

I am Sir Your Obedient Servant,
John L. Ziegler
