In this 29th day of August & 1866 before me S B Grose a justice of the peace in and for said county & state personally came Miriam Shamblin of said county & state & who being by me duly sworn declares that she is the widow of Isaiah Shamblin who was amember [sic] of Capt Wm Kings Company of state militia West Virginia & who after serving in said company entered the service of the united states & died while in same that she by hereby appoint & constitutes J M McWhortor of Wheling [sic] her attorney to sign her name to the pay rols [sic] of said Capt King & to receive from the of the state of west va any and all money due her said husband on account of the services above rendered in the said Capt King's Company & to do and perform all other lawful acts that I would be required to do were I present in person hereby satifying [sic] & confirming all that my said attorney may or what lawfully do in the and [unreadable text]and procure adraft made payable to the order of Ralph King Esq in witness where of I hereinto get my hand & seal this 29th day of August 1866

Be it known that on this 29th day of August & 1866 before me the undersigned a justice of the peace in and for said county & state personally appeared Miriam Shamblin to me well known to be the widow of the said Isaiah Shamblin and know that deceased and I further certify that I was well acquainted with the said Isaiah Shamblin & know that he did render the service in said Capt King's Company as is by her [sic] represented and I have evory [sic] reason to believe other than personal knowledge that he did in the service of the united states and that I have no interest in this claim
