On this 6th day of September AD 1866 before me S.B Gross [sic] a justice of the peace in and for said county and state personally came [unreadable text] Shamblin of said county and state and who being duly sworn declares that she is the widow of Losson Shamblin who was a member of Captain William King's Company of state militia West Virginia and who after serving in said company entered the service of the United States and died while in same

That she hereby appoints and constitutes JM McWhorter of the county of Roane residing in the city of Wheeling and the state of West Virginia her attorney to sign her name to the pay rolls of said Captain King. and to receive from the Quarter Master General of the state of West Virginia any and all money due her said husband on account of the service above rendered----in the said Captain King's Company and to do and perform all other lawfull [sic] acts that I would be required to do were I present in person hereby ratifying and confirming all that my said attorney may or shall lawfully do. in the [unreadable text]

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 6th day of September 1866.

Be it known that on this 6th day of September AD 1866. before me the undersigned a justice of the peace in and for said county and state personally appeared Charlotte Shamblin to me well known to be the widow of the said Losson Shamblin and know that he did render the service in said Captain King's Company as is by her represented and I have evry [sic] reason to believe (other then personal knowledge) that he died in the service of the United States and that I have no interest in this claim
