SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017

A special meeting via conference call, with the host site being the Historic Preservation Conference Room at the Culture Center in Charleston, was called to order by Chairman Harold Forbes at 3:13 p.m. In addition to Chairman Forbes, other voting members in attendance by telephone were Dr. Melissa Bingmann, Nat DeBruin, Rebecca Frye, Victor Greco, Dr. Charles Ledbetter, and Nathan Randolph, and ex-officio member Fredrick Armstrong. Ex-officio non-voting members present at the host site were Joe Geiger, director, Archives and History section, serving as secretary for the commission; and Susan Pierce, director, Historic Preservation Section. Voting members unable to participate were Tommy Bailey, Dr. Robert Conte, Dr. Billy Joe Peyton, Alison Thornton, Dr. Joan Walker, and Keven Walker. Ex-officio voting member unable to participate was Dr. William Arnett. Ex-officio non-voting members unable to participate were Dr. Michael Hohn, director, West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey; Charles Morris, director, Museums Section; Randall Reid-Smith, commissioner of Culture and History; and Sandra Scaffidi, president, Preservation Alliance of West Virginia. Also in attendance were Jennifer Brennan and Pam Brooks of the State Historic Preservation Office.

Chairman Forbes asked Ms. Pierce to explain the purpose of the meeting. She noted that the SHPO has received the opportunity to use $10,500 in Certified Local Government recaptured funds from the National Park Service. Her office contacted the eligible historic landmark commissions and solicited projects that could be completed by the deadline of August 31, 2017. The solicitation was conducted by "e-blast" to all eligible historic landmark commissions and responses were submitted by email.

Dr. Bingmann asked if there were other applicants and Ms. Brennan replied that there were no others. In response to a question from Mr. Armstrong, Ms. Brennan noted all CLGs had been contacted.

Following discussion, Dr. Bingmann made a motion to fully fund all the projects and Mr. Greco provided the second. Motion carried.

Mr. Armstrong made a motion to adjourn and Chairman Forbes declared the meeting adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
