Genealogy:

Simeon Edward Vickers (18 June 1873-22 Nov 1955) married Bertha Pearl Smoot (4 Nov 1878 - 1960) April 1, 1896 in Lincoln County, WV. Simeon Edward Vickers was the son of Charles Lawrence Vickers (1846 - 1922?) and Mary Williams Stone Vickers (1846 - 1920s?). Bertha Pearl Smoot was the daughter of Emily Frances Stone and Gabriel Smoot.

Simeon Edward Vickers and Bertha Pearl Smoot Vickers raised their family on a farm on Peter Cave Fork, Horse Creek, near Alkol, West Virginia. Children of Simeon and Bertha who are mentioned in letters in the collection are:

1. Artia (Arteagia in the family Bible) Sherwood Vickers (25 Mach 1897 - 1980) . A. S. Vickers was a school teacher, World War I veteran who was educated at Ripley Normal School (1914), Mountain State Business College (1915-1917), and then the Univ of Michigan after the war. He made his career in Michigan as an entrepreneur, teacher and business promoter.

2. Flossie Reber Vickers Backus (2-26-1899 - 26 Feb 1946). She married Forrest Backus. She died February 1946 and is buried in St. Albans.

3. Raymond Whitfield Vickers (23-May-1901-8-May-1971), married Tiny Bell Hale July 5, 1922.

4. Van Vernon Vickers (10 July 1902 - 8 Dec 1986) married Crete Miller on 5 April 1930.

5. Pearl Ayrmen Vickers (16 May 1908 - ) married Gifford Egnor January 25, 1927.

6. Pansy Sybil Vickers (10 Nov 1910 - 21 Aug 2000) married Oscar Ernest Lusher on 1 June 1931.

7. Gabriel Edward Vickers (29 September 1913 - 20 December 1983). World War Two veteran of Africa and Italy invasions.

8. Millicent Ruth Vickers (14 December 1915 - 15 August 1989) married William Kidd.

9. Lillian Evangeline Vickers (22 Nov 1923 - ) married George Fox.
