Biographical Note: Marjorie Louise Lemley Teague was born September 26, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after her parents moved from West Virginia. She studied at Watkins Institute in Nashville and the University of Miami in Florida. In 1958, she accepted a regular commission in the United States Marine Corps. She served as an Exchange Officer, resigning as First Lieutenant in 1962. Marjorie married Donald L. Teague, a Marine pilot, in 1959. After divorcing from her husband, she moved to Williamstown, West Virginia to be with her parents. She opened the Marj Teague Gallery in 1964 after establishing herself through galleries nationally. In 1978, Teague was named "Daughter of the Year" by the West Virginia Society of Washington, D.C. Her business and artwork was a fixture of Williamstown for 40 years. She is a fifth-generation descendant of James Neal, the founder of Parkersburg. In December of 2022, she was awarded the Vaughn Awards from the Wood County Historical Society. As of 2023, Teague is actively giving back to the community through Servants of the Valley.
