Power of Attorney, David Y. Ellis, April 12, 1847

Know all men by these presents that I David Y. Ellis of the County of Daviess and State of Indiana an heir and Legal Representative of Joel Ellis deceased late of Virginia have made constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint and in my place and stead put and depute William L. Dunlop of the County of Campbell and State of Kentucky my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name and for my use to ask demand sue for recover and receive all my right and Interest in the Estate of said Joel Ellis deceased late of said State Hereby ratifying, allowing and holding for firm and effectual, all and whatsoever my said Attorney shall lawfully do in and about the premises, by virtue hereof In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Twelfth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven

I W C Elliott, one of the Justices of the peace of said county, do hereby certify that the above named David Y Ellis came personally before me and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his voluntary act and deed for purposes therein specified in witness in here of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of April 1847

I, John Vaer Trees Clerk of the Circuit Court within and for said county, do hereby certify that William C Elliott Esq. before whom the within power of attorney was acknowledged, was at the time an acting Justice of the peace of said county duly elected and qualified, and that the signature purporting to be his, is genuine.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal of Office, at Washington, the 12th day of April A. D. 1847.
