Buckhannon Man Is Killed When Bridge Gives Way
Ray Tenney, Truck Driver, Meets Death Near Hampton Yesterday

Ray Tenney, 28 years of age, of this city, was killed yesterday afternoon when a Standard Oil truck which he was driving crashed through a bridge over French Creek, midway between Sago and Hampton.
Mr. Tenney, who had been an employee of the Standard Oil Co. in this city for the last four years, had taken one of the gasoline tank trucks of the company to the Upco Inn on the Adrian road, where he had unloaded part of the gasoline. He was continuing on his way to Sago when the accident occurred.
The truck had apparently reached a point about midway of the structure when the bridge timbers gave way and the truck went through to the rocky creek bed below. The front of the truck dropped through first, then turned over so that the weight of the huge auto had been thrown on the driver.
Members of the state police and deputies from the sheriff's office immediately went to the scene of the accident and worked for over an hour in extricating Tenney from the wreckage. When found, he still had a grip on the steering wheel, and was horribly mangled.
A coroner's jury, under the direction of Magistrate J. L. Jennings, will investigate the case today.
The body of Mr. Tenney was brought to the Whitescarver Funeral Parlors immediately after the accident and prepared for burial. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. Tenney is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Tenney; one small son; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Tenney; two brothers, Jay and Fay Tenney; and one sister, Lula Tenney.
