Ex-Middleport Serviceman Killed In Viet

Sgt. Jimmy G. Stewart, 23, of Columbus, Ga., formerly of Middleport, was killed during hostile action May 18 in Viet Nam.

Mr. Stewart, a career soldier, had been in the service for six years. He was born December 25, 1942 in West Columbia.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two sons, Robert and John, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Stitts of Racine, O.; two step-fathers, Delmar Logan of Middleport and Alfred Stitts of Racine, O.; a half-brother, John Logan, stationed with the Marines; and a half-sister, Josephine Logan of Racine.

The body is scheduled to arrive in Columbus, Ga, late tonight and from there will be brought to the Foglesong Funeral Home in Mason, where friends may call after noon Friday.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the West Columbia EUB Church with the Rev. Lester Lane officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery with military rites under the direction of Fort Hayes.
