On Saturday afternoon complaint was made to Major Darr, Provost Marshall, of Wheeling, charging Robert Marshall, who lives about four miles east of that city, with uttering seditious language and denouncing the government. A squad of soldiers was sent out to Marshall's residence and he was brought into the city on Saturday evening and compelled to give bail for his good behavior in the sum of $500. He is said to have a very large proportion of devil in his composition. It is stated that he amused himself during a portion of the day on Saturday by shooting several turkeys and chickens belonging to Hon. Sherrard Clemens who lives upon the adjoining place. After giving bond, Marshall was allowed to go back to his farm, where he conducted himself in such a violent manner, that it was tho't necessary to rearrest him, which was done by order of the Provost Marshall. He is now confined in the Atheneum.
