October 29, 1862
The keeper of a saloon was charged yesterday with selling whisky to soldiers. A squad of soldiers was sent after him with an order to arrest and confine him in the Atheneum for violating the order prohibiting the sale of liquor to enlisted men. It was afterwards discovered that the saloon keeper had been imposed upon by a soldier who procured liquor in a phial for a medical purpose. The saloon keeper was therefore released.
