Meeting at Glen Easton.
March 2, 1863
There was a noble rally for the New State at Glen Easton, Marshall county, on Saturday afternoon last. We have never in our lives attended a better meeting. - The people were out in their strength in that loyal precinct. Not less than two hundred voters were present. And so far as we can learn not three men among them were opposed to the new State. All were for it enthusiastically and zealously. - Speeches were made by the following persons, viz: Messrs. Holliday, McConnel and Burley of Moundsville, and A.B. Caldwell, J. R. Hubbard and A. W. Campbell of Wheeling, Michael Dunn, Esq., presided at the meeting. Other meetings in various parts of the country were announced at the close of the meeting. Marshall will be thoroughly canvassed, and it is estimated that on election day at most of the precincts no vote at all will be cast against the new State.
