The Festival - The Festival in honor of Carlin's Wheeling Battery on Saturday evening was a perfect success. We are happy to say that in a pecuniary point of view the most sanguine expectations of the patriotic friends who got it up, were more than realized. The committee of arrangements deserve great credit for their exertions and for the neatness and order with which everything was arranged and conducted. It is proper also that we should, on behalf of the Battery, make a public recognition of the services of Jas. M. Wheat, Jr., (brother of Geo. K. Wheat,) who interested himself conspeciously in raising the subscription fund with which the musical instruments for the band of the Battery were purchased. The instruments were presented to the band by A. W. Campbell and received and acknowledged on their behalf by Rev. J. T. McLure.
We understand that the Battery will leave for Camp Parole, at Annapolis, today.
