Speech Of Geo. W. Summers. - In accordance with previous announcement, Hon. Geo. W. Summers, of Kanawha county, made a speech last evening at the Court House. He had a very large, intelligent and attentive audience. Mr. Summers, after stating that he only consented to address the people at the urgent solicitation of friends, and not from choice, proceeded to give somewhat of a detailed history of his connection with the present times and the causes of his inactivity and silence in the present great emergency. He said he had done nothing, in view of the circumstances under which he had acted, that he had cause to regret, and that in his devotion to the Union and in his opposition to secession and rebellion he had never hesitated or faltered.
Mr. Summers made a very lengthy address, during the whole delivery of which he was respectfully listened to and very frequently applauded.
