ARREST OF A DESERTER:Some two months ago a young man named John T. Davis came to this city and was engaged by J. W. McNeil, lamp and glassware dealer, Main street, as a clerk. Yesterday a letter was received from Capt. Irvine of the 9th Ohio Cavalry, stating that Davis was a deserter from his company and requesting that he be arrested. Accordingly the Provost Marshal made the arrest, when Davis admitted that he had left his company last October. He was committed to the Atheneum and will be sent to Camp Chase.
