Editors Intelligencer:
Knowing your devotion to the interests of soldiers, I write you a line asking information on the subject of veteran credits - When we were re-enlisted we only gave our residences not knowing whether we were credited to the same county or whether we still had the privilege of crediting ourselves. We never have been instructed in that respect yet. Justice to us demands that we be enlightened and know whether we can credit ourselves to counties paying bounties. By giving information you will confer a favor on all veterans.

Answer to the Above.
The order of the War Department concerning the crediting of re-enlisted men reads as follows:
Extract from Circular No. 6.
War Dep't Adj't Gen's Office,
Washington, Jan. 20, 1864.
"Soldiers re-enlisting will be credited to the localities to which the re-enlistments show them as belonging. They will be allowed to select the places from which they prefer to re-enlist, and that selection will determine the quotas on which they will be credited."
Again:
Extract from Circular No. 3.
War Department,
Adj't Gen's Office, Jan 12, 1864.
"Veterans in service re-enlisting will be credited to the localities to which the reenlistments and muster-in rolls show them as belonging."
In the case of the men of the 10th Va. Vol. Inf. Co. C, it is as well that they are credited to their respective places of residence, as no county is now offering extra bounty.
