GEN. J.D. COX has been recently made a Major General. He was nominated to that rank, in September, 1862, but was not then confirmed. He is now in command of a Division in the 23d Corps, under General Schofield, just gone to Fort Fisher, North Carolina, to operate against Wilmington.
