A soldier receives financial fraud.

A SWINDLE.:Yesterday a soldier named Good, or Gooch, who had just received his bounty, was the victim of a most rascally transaction. As he was counting his money at a tavern on Water street, a pious looking individual approached him and offered his a hundred dollar Treasury note for some small bills, stating that it would be much more convenient to carry than such a large bulk, and that the soldier would not be so likely to spend it. The soldier at once counted out one hundred dollars in small notes, and passing the same to the harmless looking person, received in return a hundred dollar note. Sometime afterwards the soldier discovered that the note was a base counterfeit, but his friend had disappeared and was nowhere to be found.
