West Virginia National Guard 2nd Regiment (Organized in Southern West Virginia)

Readers of the West Virginia Historical Society Quarterly frequently make requests for genealogical materials and/or research into specific families. Society officers and the Quarterly editor are all volunteers who are not able to spend the time needed to do individual research. However, we, too, are interested in genealogy and will publish materials relating to it as often as possible. For example, the following is a list of members of the West Virginia National Guard from selected 2nd Regiment companies which may prove helpful to some researchers. This list was prepared by Kenneth R. Bailey as part of his research into occupations of National Guard members in southern West Virginia for a paper presented to the New River Symposium in April 1995. The data is from enlistment papers in the West Virginia National Guard collection in the West Virginia Department of Archives and History.
