Description:  The Virginia General Assembly passed an act which incorporated the Cranberry Summit and Brandonville Turnpike Company to construct a road from the Cranberry Summit on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to intersect the Maryland and Ohio Turnpike at Brandonville, all in Preston County. Subscription books were opened under the direction of the following commissioners: at Cranberry Summit, under William B. Crane, James Hays, E. M. Hagan, and James C. McGrew; at Jacob Guseman's store on Muddy Creek, under Jacob Guseman, Joseph Miller, and Jacob Crane; and at Brandonville, under Harrison Hagan, A. C. Leach, Jacob Fike, and Joseph Ritenhour.
