The Virginia General Assembly passed an act which incorporated the Doddridge and Preston Turnpike Company to construct a road from the Salem and Harrisville Turnpike in Doddridge County, to West Milford in Harrison County, to Evansville in Preston County. Subscription books were opened under the direction of the following commissioners: at the house of Amaziah Bee in Doddridge County, under Amaziah Bee, Franklin Maxwell, Jeptha F. Randolph, Allison Barnet, and Ephraim Bee; in West Milford, under E. W. Patton, James Boring, A. S. Holden, A. M. Austin, and Morgan Ross, and in Evansville, under Moses J. Robinett, Julius C. Kemble, Hiram B. Hanshaw, John B. Young, and Samuel Evans. |
