Description:  The Virginia General Assembly passed an act which incorporated the Preston Coal and Iron Company by the following: Frederick Pentz, Samuel L. Mitchell, William Kensen, John C. Ernenpietsch, and John W. Whitlock. The company's purpose was to mine coal and other minerals, and to manufacture and transport iron in Hampshire County, Hardy County, and Preston County.
