The Virginia General Assembly passed an act amending the incorporation of the Preston Bank of Virginia at Kingwood, Preston County, so as to change its name to the Bank of Preston. Subscription books were opened in Kingwood under the direction of the following commissioners: James C. McGrew, William G. Brown, Henry Startzman, Gustavus Cresap, John A. Dille, Eugene G. Brandon, Harrison Hagans, John H. Hoffman, William B. Crane, David Stemple, Jr., Isaac Startzman, Julius C. Kemble, Hezekiah Pell, John Feather, Thomas Brown, and Charles M. Bishop. |
