Description:  The West Virginia Gas Coal company was incorporated in West Virginia by the following: James Kane, John Standish, Thomas G. McCulloh, Nelson Beall, and Frank A. Mason, all of Frostburg, MD. The company's purpose was to mine coal, iron, and other extractive minerals and to manufacture lumber at Rowlesburg, Preston County.
