The Alleghany Land, Lumber and Boom Company was incorporated in West Virginia by the following: Samuel P. Brown, Charles C. Huntley, Nathaniel Wilson, Chapin Brown of Washington, D. C.; and Adam H. Bowman of Rowlesburg, Preston County. The company's purpose was to operate a lumber business on the Cheat River and its tributaries in Preston County, Tucker County, and Randolph County; with booms, saw mills, lumber yards, etc., at or near Rowlesburg in Preston County, at or near the Cheat Bridge five miles above Rowlesburg, and at or near the falls on the Black Fork of the Cheat River about twelve miles above the mouth of the fork in Tucker County. The company's main office was in Washington, D. C. |
