Description:  The Grafton and Greenbrier Telegraph Company was incorporated in West Virginia by the following: Augustus G. Davis, James B. Yeakle of Baltimore; John T. McGraw, John W. Mason, and John S. S. Herr of Grafton, Taylor County. The company's purpose was to install telegraph and telephone lines from a point on the Pennsylvania state line in Monongalia County, through Marion County or Preston County, to Grafton in Taylor County, through Barbour County, through Randolph County, through Pocahontas County, to a point on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in Greenbrier County. The company's main office was in Grafton.
