The Pittsburgh and Preston County Railroad Company was incorporated in West Virginia by the following: Charles Kantner, William S. Armstrong, George H. Armstrong, Sanford K. Scott, Joseph W. Michael, Samuel T. Darby, Andrew Spindler, William H. Miller, and John H. Feather, all of Preston County. The company's purpose was to construct a railroad from the Pennsylvania state line near the residence of Jonas Haust in Grant District down Big Sandy Creek through Clifton Mills, Brandonville, and Bruceton through Grant District, Pleasant District, and Portland District to intersect the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at a point east of Cheat River and west of the Maryland state line, all in Preston County. The company's main office was at Bruceton. |
