Description:  The Virginia General Assembly passed an act which incorporated the Brandonville, Kingwood and Evansville Turnpike Company to construct a road from the Pennsylvania state line in Preston County, to Brandonville and Kingwood, to a point on the Northwestern Turnpike at or near Evansville. Subscription books were opened under the direction of the following commissioners: in Brandonville, under Harrison Hagan, John Scott, and Samuel Rodehaver; in Kingwood, under Elisha M. Hagan, Israel Baldwin, and Thomas McGee; and at Evansville, under Wick Johnson, John Wilkins, and William K. Smith.
