Description:  The Virginia General Assembly passed an act which incorporated the Preston Railroad, Lumber, and Mineral Company by the following: Caspar W. Weaver, Zalmon Ludington, Harrison Hagans, Elisha M. Hagans, and Buckner Fairfax. The company's purpose was to construct a railroad around the falls of Cheat River, improve the navigation of the Cheat River below its falls, and mine and manufacture iron, other metals, and lumber, all in Preston County.
