CHARLESTON, W.Va.-Dr. Carolyn Stuart, executive director  of the Herbert  Henderson Office of Minority Affairs,  and members of the Martin  Luther King,Jr. State Holiday Commission today announced a community  celebration on Monday,January 20,to hon or the life and legacy of Martin Luther King,Jr. 
"It is important  we honor the life of Dr. Martin  Luther King Jr. and the principles in 
which he believed and struggled to bring to fruition,"  said Dr. Stuart,who is the commis sion chair.  "The Commission has worked with organizations around the state to plan a  wonderful program to ensure this holiday and the legacy of  Dr. Martin Luther King con tinue  to inspire West Virginians of all ages." 
The celebration will begin at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charleston at 10:30 a.m.,followed by a bell-ringing ceremony at the State Capitol  Complex, North Portico, at 
12:30 p.m. The Commission will host the student essay and community service awards program at the Culture  Center at 1p.m. A musical performance by "Unity in the Com munity" featuring a choir,  steel drum ensemble  and dancers will begin at 3 p.m..
"We hope our community  joins us as we carry forward Dr. King's message of  justice, equality and accountability and pay tribute in words and deeds to his accomplish  ments," said Dr. Stuart. "Let  us be the example that his life demonstrated, while we look ahead to an even brighter  future for all citizens."
