Women's Clubs Formed State Federation
Yesterday Was Taken Up With Several Important Discussions, and Officers Were Elected.

The program of the last day's session of the meeting of the West Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs was opened Friday morning at 9:30 a. m. by a social meeting of the club presidents represented, in which important business was discussed. Following that came the organization which occupied the time from 10 until the noon hour. At 2:15 the unfinished business was again taken up, the reports of visiting club representatives and of the local organizations, followed by delightful music and a discussion on "Club Extension," which was led by Mrs. Charles S. Morrison in a very able manner.
The constitution and by laws of the General Federation of Women's Clubs was adopted during the morning session, and the following officers elected: President, Mrs. Guy R. C. Allen; corresponding and recording secretary, Mrs. T. C. Burke; treasurer, Mrs. H. H. Moss, Parkersburg; auditor, Mrs. Alvin Jackson, Sistersville; Federation secretary, Mrs. Chas. S. Morrison. These officers and the chairman of the standing committee, constitute the executive board, which will hold its first meeting to-day at 9:30 in the parlors of the McLure House.
At 2:15 p. m. a very interesting and lively discussion was lead by Mrs. D. L. Murray on "Travelling Libraries." This was followed by a discussion of "Village Improvement," written by Mrs. Skinner, of Parkersburg, but was read by Mrs. Rathbone on account of the former lady's illness.
A musical selection rendered by Mrs. Flora Williams, entitled, "Spring Is Come," was a delightful happening to break the somewhat monotonous business session, and which was followed by an address by Miss McKnight, president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Women's Clubs, in which she extended a very cordial invitation to the West Virginia delegation to join that of Pennsylvania as the Bi- ennial convention, which will be held at St. Louis May 17-25 inclusively, at which convention the four vice-presidents were elected from the four congressional districts, represented by the federated clubs. Following are the names: First district, Mrs. G. A. Aschman; second, Mrs. John Driscoll, of Ronceverte; third, Mrs. H. R. M. Thomas, of Parkersburg, and fourth, Mrs. Sloane, of Huntington.
On motion it was decided that the delegates to the Bi-ennial convention be appointed by the President.
A letter of congratulation was read from Mrs. T. S. Dennison, of New York, President General of the Federation of Women's Clubs, on the organization of the institution in this State, in which she complimented the members' effort, praised them highly, and withal, good wishes for success and prominence.
All the visiting representatives expressed themselves in very complimentary terms as the work of the local organization and they were delighted with the great and cordial hospitality which was shown to them and many expressed a desire to remain longer in the city if it had been possible.
Delightful iced fruit was served during the evening.
