Hubert Humphrey also visited Charleston several times: March 21, 1959, November 21, 1959, January 25, 1960, April 8, April 25, April 28, May 4, May 8, 9, and May 10. He remained into May 11 to offer his concession speech. On April 8, Humphrey made campaign stops in Cedar Grove, Chelyan, Chesapeake, Decota, Dry Branch, East Bank, Eskdale, Leewood, Marmet, and United. He was in St. Albans on April 29. He was scheduled to visit Kanawha City, Dunbar, Institute, South Charleston, and Campbells Creek on May 9.

Stuart Symington and his wife were in Charleston on March 19, and Richard Nixon and Pat came on September 27. Jacqueline Kennedy was in St. Albans with her husband on April 30 and in Charleston when he claimed victory on May 11. Muriel Humphrey visited Charleston and Clendenin on April 18, and she was with her husband on April 28, May 8, May 9, and election day.

Humphrey aides filed his papers for the primary on February 4 and opened his campaign headquarters on February 29. His sister Frances Howard came to Charleston on March 19, and Goveror Orville Freeman of Minnesota and his wife campaigned at Charleston, Chelyan, Dunbar, and Institute on April 29.
