A meeting of the citizens of Brooke County was held at the courthouse in Wellsburg.

A bushwhacker was killed by a young man at his home in Gilmer County.

April 3
Governor Francis Pierpont commissioned Henry Stratzman of Preston County as quartermaster of the 7th (West) Virginia Infantry.

April 4
Jenkins raiders captured at Point Pleasant arrived at Wheeling and were incarcerated in the Athenaeum.

Citizens of Tyler County met at the courthouse in Middlebourne to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

April 5
More of Jenkins raiders were captured at Mud Fork.

April 6
A meeting was held at the school house in Cameron, Marshall County, to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

Confederates attacked a Union wagon train near Moorefield.

At a meeting held in Palatine, Marion County, delegates were appointed to the Parkersburg Convention.

A meeting was held at the Braxton County Courthouse to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

A Union force attacked Confederates near Moorefield.

Federal court was convened at the United States Courthouse in Wheeling.

Monongalia County citizens met at the courthouse in Morgantown to select delegates to the Unconditional Union Convention at Parkersburg.

The 8th (West) Virginia Infantry left Beverly for a scouting expedition into Pocahontas and Highland counties.

Seventy Confederate prisoners arrived in Wheeling aboard the steamer Eagle and were confined in the Atheneum.

Citizens of Preston County met at the courthouse in Kingwood.

Union citizens of Lewis County met at the courthouse in Weston to appoint delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

A public meeting of Harrison County citizens was held in the courthouse in Clarksburg.

Three Confederate spies from Buckhannon were incarcerated in the Atheneum.

A mass convention of Hancock County citizens was held at the courthouse.

A meeting of Pleasants County citizens was held at the courthouse in St. Marys.

Union troops on a scouting expedition in Pocahontas County were ambushed by a Confederate force at Greenbrier River.

The president of the constitutional convention and the new state commissioners certified the vote on the amended constitution for the State of West Virginia.

Voters from the 4th Ward of Wheeling met to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

The citizens of Triadelphia precinct in Wheeling met at the old Foster Hotel.

Union citizens from Cabell County gathered at the courthouse in Guyandotte to select candidates for office for the new state of West Virginia.

A mass meeting of Barbour County citizens was held at the courthouse in Philippi.

The citizens of Wetzel County convened at the courthouse in New Martinsville.

President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation declaring that in sixty days, West Virginia would become the 35th state in the Union.

More prisoners were brought to Wheeling.

A Union meeting was held at the Upshur County Courthouse in Buckhannon.

A meeting of Tucker County citizens was held at the courthouse in St. George.

Jones-Imboden Raid - Gen. John Imboden left his camp at Shenandoah Mountain en route for western Virginia.

Jones-Imboden Raid - Forces under confederate General John D. Imboden reached Hightown.

Samuel Price of Greenbrier Count was announced as a candidate for lieutenant governor of the Confederate government of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Citizens met in Charleston to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

Jones-Imboden Raid - A Confederate force commanded by General John D. Imboden reached Huttonsville in Randolph County.

April 24
Jones-Imboden Raid - Confederate troops under William L. Jackson attacked Colonel George Latham at Beverly.

April 25
Jones-Imboden Raid - Colonel George Latham's troops continued to retreat toward Bellington.

Jones-Imboden Raid - Union troops under Capt. Wallace and Confederate under Gen. William E. Jones fought at Greenland Gap.

Union citizens of Hampshire County met at New Creek Station to select delegates to the Parkersburg Convention.

A new state convention was held at the Ohio County courthouse in Wheeling.

Jones-Imboden Raid - Part of Imboden's forces approached the railroad at Rowlesburg and attached a portion of the Sixth [West] Virginia Infantry.

April 27
Jones-Imboden Raid - Jones-Imboden raiders occupied Morgantown.

Officers of the 24th Brigade met in Wheeling and decided to call out the brigade for parade.

Approximately thirty Confederate prisoners captured by troops under Colonel George Latham were confined in the Atheneum.

April 28
Colonel J. A. J. Lightburn was placed in command of the 24th Brigade of militia.

Jones-Imboden Raid - Forces under Confederate General John Imboden captured Buckhannon.

Two regiments of Ohio County militia gathered at the courthouse in Wheeling.

April 29
Jones-Imboden Raid - Confederate troops under General William Jones captured the town of Fairmont.

The 6th Virginia Militia regiment were sent to Littleton in Wetzel County.

Union cavalry launched a scouting expedition to Beeler's Station in Marshall County.

April 30
Jones-Imboden Raid - Union and Confederate forces skirmished near Bridgeport.

A battery of artillery and a large body of infantry arrived in Wheeling from Columbus, Ohio.
